Welcome to the VCAP Planting Planner

Your all-in-one tool for Native Plant Eligibility for the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program.

This tool, developed by Meghan Jones (VASWCD Intern), is designed to help you select Virginia native plants for your VCAP projects. Plant nativity status is determined by the Digital Atlas of the Virginia Flora online database. The tool also allows you to create and save project files for individual contracts or VCAP practice types. After adding your selected plants and entering the project size, it automatically calculates plant density to determine whether minimum planting requirements have been met. In addition, you can generate and save a project report that can be included with your VCAP application, streamlining documentation and project submission.

Please note that this tool alone doesn’t guarantee that your project meets VCAP eligibility requirements. Your projects, plants, and density will still be reviewed by the state VCAP Steering Committee and local SWCD Board. All VCAP eligibility requirements, including density and species requirements, can be found within the VCAP Manual.
